This trip will take you from Mughal-influenced Delhi to the Mughal empire's former capital, Agra, the royal pink city, all the way to the famous temple town of Khajuraho. It is a great opportunity to witness the beautiful culmination of various types of folk dance forms from across the country, celebrating the history and heritage of Indian dance forms.

ITINERARY - 15 Days

Day 1

Arriving in Delhi

The first day of your Khajuraho dance festival trip begins with your arrival in the capital city of India, Delhi. Enjoy your first day at your leisure in your hotel room or take a stroll outside your hotel.

Day 2

Exploring Delhi city

Today, we will visit the 73-meter-high symbol of victory and the epitome of Islam's culture and heritage in the state, the Qutab Minar. Make your wishes come true by trying to encircle the 7-meter iron pillar with your arms.

After this, we will drive past the center of Indian democracy, the Parliament complex, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and make a photo stop at the India Gate, a memorial raised in honor of martyred soldiers.

Post lunch, relive the history of Delhi with a trip down to the walled part of the city—Old Delhi. From the Red Fort to the Jama Masjid, drink in the Mughal architectural beauty.

In the evening, it is time to explore the renowned Chandni Chowk, with its tiny streets teeming with hundreds of people and delicious street food. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 3

Reaching the Pink City

Our day begins with a 6-hour drive down to the vibrant pink city of Jaipur, passing through the Aravalli Hills.

Housing exquisite palaces, gardens, and courtyards, the City Palace Museum, our first stop, is an overwhelming complex.

The last stop for the day is the royal astronomical observatory, the Jantar Mantar. As you explore the observatory, you will see the wonderful culmination of architectural brilliance and scientific and technical concepts.

In the evening, you are free to further explore the city at your own expense and leisure. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 4

Exploring the Pink City

Today we will visit the magnificent Amber Fort with its four courtyards, palaces, halls, and garden. The next stop is the beautiful Hawa Mahal, primarily used by royal women to view the street festivities while remaining hidden from the public.

In the afternoon, it is time for a walking tour of the Old Bazaar of Jaipur. This 2- to 3-hour walk will give you the chance to try out some of the best street food cuisines in the city. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 5

Visits to Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort

Today we will drive down to Agra from Jaipur, and en route, we will make a stop at Fatehpur Sikri. The fortified city was once a Mughal capital with several beautiful monuments to visit. The most notable one among these is the Jama Masjid.

After this, we will continue driving to Agra. Once there, we will visit the Agra Fort. The powerful red sandstone fort has several palaces and audience halls within that beg to be photographed.

Day 6

Sunrise at Taj Mahal

The morning starts with the Taj Mahal visit. Enjoy the crisp morning air as you ride on the battery-driven bus from the parking area to the entrance to the monument of love. As you walk around, taking pictures, drink in the purity of the marble structure and the love behind it.

After a quick breakfast, we will drive down to Lucknow, where we will stay overnight.

Day 7

Trailing the Lucknow City

As you stand on the top of the Kothi, you will get a majestic view of Lucknow. Later, we will go to other important sites, like historical landmarks like Bara Imambara and Chhota Imambara. In the evening, we will go on the food trail in Lucknow City, where you can treat your tastebuds to some of the best Nawabi cuisines. Overnight stay in Lucknow.

Day 8

Visit to the Triveni Sangam

Today we will drive down to Allahabad and visit Triveni Sangam. Considered one of the most sacred places in India, it is the place where the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati meet. You can distinguish between Ganga and Yamuna because the former is brownish and the latter is greenish. The River Saraswati is a mythical water body believed to have dried up a few millennia ago.

Day 9

Ganga Arti at Varanasi

We start the day with a 4-hour drive to Varanasi. After reaching there, you can relax in the hotel until the evening.

In the evening, you will witness the illuminated Ganga Arti ceremony on the Dashwamedha Ghat near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It is a picturesque scene when devotees make offerings to the river by floating diyas on it. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 10

A day at the Eternal City

The day starts early with a boat ride along the Ghats on the Holy River Ganges. Experience the beautiful sunrise on the boat, seeing people milling around the river to wash their sins away.

After breakfast, we will go on an excursion to Sarnath, one of the four key sites in the Buddhist circuit. In the town, you will see Buddhism-influenced attractions like the Sarnath temple, Tibetan monastery, and Buddha statue.

Post lunch, we head back to Varanasi and visit the Bharat Kala Bhavan, a museum within Banaras University with exhibits from the Harappan period to rare objects like the Toilet Bearer.

Day 11

Flying to Khajuraho

Today, you will fly from Varanasi to Khajuraho. Later, we will visit the Eastern Group of Temples in the Khajuraho complex. This part of the complex can be divided into two parts: temples dedicated to Hindu gods and goddesses and temples dedicated to Jain deities.

In the evening, enjoy the classical dance performances at the Khajuraho dance festival in 2021. Scheduled to be held from February 20th to 26th, 2021, it is a spectacle of Indian classical dance forms and their rendition of the arts and traditions of India. Overnight at Khajuraho

Day 12

The Khajuraho dance festival 2021

We will spend the day exploring the several temples in the Khajuraho Western Group of Temples. Some of the major temples we will cover here are Kandariya Mahadeva Temple and Lakshmana Temple, along with others.

In the evening, we come back to the Western Group of Temples to witness the marvelous Khajuraho dance festival.

Day 13

Visiting the Falls

You can either relax in your hotel room or visit the Pandavas and Raneh Falls near Khajuraho.

Pandava Falls is said to have been visited by the Pandava brothers from the epic poem Mahabharata. One can see the five Pandava caves below the falls, which suggest the brothers inhabiting the place during their exile.

Later, we will also visit Raneh Falls. This destination has several small falls in regular stretches apart from the main one, making it a must-include on your bucket list.

In the evening, you can enjoy yet another night of classical dance performances at the Western Group of Temples at the Khajuraho Dance Festival 2021.

Day 14

Khajuraho to Delhi via Jhansi and Orchha

Embark on a 5-hour road trip to Jhansi from Khajuraho. En route, we will make a small visit to the historic small town of Orchha.

In this town, we will visit its chief attraction, the Orchha Fort. Within the walls of the fort, there are three major palaces: Raja Mahal, Jehangir Mahal, and Rai Parveen Mahal. Orchha also has Chattris along the Betwa River and Raja Ram temple.

After the brief visit to the historical times at Orchha, we will continue our drive to Jhansi. Once there, you will board the express train to Delhi. Overnight in Delhi

Day 15

Heading back home

On the last day of your tour, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
