ITINERARY - 11 Days

Day 1

A drive to Dambulla from Colombo

Once you arrive at the Colombo airport, our executives will welcome you and take you to Dambulla via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The drive takes almost 5 hours. The Pinnawala is one of the most popular tourist attractions where people can witness countless elephants spread in that area. As you drive through this region, you can see the elephants on either side of the roads. This region was allocated to the elephants in 1975 since many baby elephants got lost or died due to unforeseeable reasons.

Reach Dambulla and check into the hotel. Overnight stay at Dambulla

Day 2

A visit to Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa

After having breakfast at the hotel, the tourists are taken to visit the Rock Fortress in Sigiriya. This fortress is one of the main tourist attractions and is considered to be the eighth wonder of the world (by the locals). The fort depicts the rich heritage of Sri Lanka and gives an ancient feel. The name Sigiriya came because of the Lion present inside the palace. The huge fortress houses the ruins of the palace, green gardens, ponds, and fountains which are a treat to watch.

After exploring the Sigiriya Fortress, return to the hotel to taste some mouth-watering cuisines.

Post lunch, head to the ancient capital, Polonnaruwa. The ancient capital houses the ruins of the palace, temples, pond, few dabogoas, and other religious buildings. This ancient city will definitely transport you to the 11th century.

Return back to the hotel and spend the evening peacefully. Stay overnight at Dambulla.

Day 3

Heading towards Kandy

After a gorgeous stay in Dambulla, have breakfast in the hotel and get ready to head to Kandy. The Dambulla cave temple falls on the route and a quick stop is made here. The entire journey is 2.5 hours and is accompanied by lush green trees and great views. You will also have an opportunity to witness numerous spice trees and plants and get to know about them.

Kandy is famous for its beauty, scenic view, and festival. You can stay in Kandy and enjoy the 8-day festival. It gives an opportunity to experience the culture of Sri Lanka and mingle with many people. The peripheral Kandy festival attracts a lot of tourists and comprises colorful processions and artists, acrobats, singers, dancers, and many more people make this a memorable event.

Day 4

Explore Kandy

The entire day is allotted to explore the Kandy city. The day starts with a visit to Peradeniya which is 6km away from Kandy. The 60-acre lush-green gardens were once enjoyed by the royal people but now it is open to the public. After Peradeniya, head to the Sacred Tooth temple where the tooth of Lord Buddha has been preserved and kept inside the stupa.

Day 5

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

After having breakfast at the hotel, head to Nuwara Eliya. Reaching Nuwara Eliya takes approximately 5 hours by road. On the way, a stop is made to check out the Hanuman temple which was built in 1999. This temple houses the largest Hanuman statue in Sri Lanka.

Reach Nuwara Eliya and check-in to the resort. Spend the evening leisurely at the Hakgala garden. Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.

Day 6

Head to Yala via Ella

Post breakfast, head to Yala via Ella. Ella is a beautiful place situated 1000 meters above sea level. The place houses waterfalls, cafes, and people can also go for a hike. Optional visit to the Nine Arch Bridge, which is an engineering marvel built in the 20th century.

Yala National park is home to many animals like sloths, elephants, leopards, deer, peacock, and 44 varieties of mammals and more than 200 varieties of birds. Visit the park and feel close to mother nature.

Day 7

Yala National Park

Spend the day by indulging in fun activities and games.

Day 8

Head to Bentota from Yala

After breakfast, get ready to go on another road trip. Bentota is 4 hours away from Yala. Get to witness the Galleon the way. Galle is a UNESCO world heritage site and tourists can explore this place on foot. This place houses beautiful mansions, modern cafes, churches, mosques, and it is an absolute delight to take a stroll through this town.

Check-in at the hotel in Bentota and overnight stay.

Day 9

A calm day at the beach

Breakfast at the hotel and head to a sightseeing tour. The day time is spent by exploring the turtle farm. Tourists get a chance to witness countless turtles. One can also see as young as a three-day old turtle which is a treat to the eyes. Enjoy the evening by spending quality time at the beach.

Day 10

Enroute Colombo

After breakfast, drive to Colombo. Check in to the hotel then head to explore the city. The day starts with visiting the beautiful Kelaniya temple built on the banks of the Kelaniya river. After that head to the National museum of Colombo which houses more than 100000 artifacts and depicts the history of culture of Sri Lanka.

Head to the beautiful and calm Wolvendaal church. Overnight stay at the hotel in Colombo.

Day 11

Bid goodbye to Sri Lanka

On the last day of your trip, relax at the hotel and indulge into some local cuisine and shopping before departing.
