Experiencing CochinDay 2 is all about getting to know Cochin from within. The trip starts with Old Cochin, where you'll get to see one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world. The Paradesi Synagogue, the crown jewel of the Jewish town, is a must-see. Reconstructed after the Portuguese bombardment in 1662, the synagogue is an everlasting symbol of spirituality and peace. The next stop is the International Pepper Exchange, also in Jewtown. The Chinese fishing nets are the next sight, where fishing nets are erected on teak wood and bamboo poles and operate on the principle of balance. In use since 1350 AD, watch and marvel at this interesting bit of preserved heritage. Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, Vasco Da Gama Square, VOC Gate, and Bastion Bungalow are some of the other prominent sights. |
Day 3 |
Road Trip to MunnarAfter Cochin, we reach Munnar by road. Nestled in the confluence of three mountain streams, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala, Munnar was the preferred summer resort of the British Government. Blessed with tea plantations and picturesque scenery, Munnar is straight out of a fantasy book. It is also a haven for trekkers, as it has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, towering at a mighty 2695 m. |

Sightseeing in MunnarThe first stop of the day is Elephant Lake or Anayirangal. Famous for its tea plantations, evergreen forests, and hillocks, Elephant Lake is the ideal location for the perfect picture. Located 12 km from Munnar town lies the Tata Tea Museum, which is a tribute to the pioneers who made Munnar the major tea plantation center of Kerala. This museum offers a slice of the interesting tea history that has been the main attraction of Munnar for over a century. |

The five elephants, which are specially taken care of by their mahouts, or caretakers, will make your day special.
