When they travelled here for cattle grazing, the cows bells used to make sounds like "Goron goron", that is how the locals named the place as Ngorongoro. Later once Ngorongoro was declared a conservation area, grazing at the crater was banned. The small crater has perhaps the highest wildlife density of any wildlife park in the world.
