Day 1 |
Arrive at Kajaani Once you've arrived at Kajaani, you'll be transferred to your accommodation. Check into your room and relax there for a while. Freshen up; you can also choose to explore the nearby surroundings. Munch on the local cuisine, which is made from fresh ingredients. Get ready for the exciting vacation we've got planned for you! |
Day 2 |
Time for bear watching After a scrumptious breakfast, you'll have ample time for yourself. If you were looking to spend some quality time with yourself, now is the perfect opportunity. You can also go to the local bird feeders, and observe the birds who come regularly. You might catch sight of a rare red squirrel or the petite Siberian Jay, with an orange-hued tail. Lots of people who come to watch Finnish bears in their natural habitat, often have many questions. All of your questions, and more, will be answered by the local wildlife expert. Gain immense knowledge on the daily doings of the infamous Finnish bears. After an early meal in the evening, you'll have to pack all the necessary items that you'll need for a three-day stay at the hides. To reach there, we'll go on a short drive, which will be followed by a long thirty minutes walk. During this time, you can explore the wilderness where the hides are organized. The hides are extremely comfortable. They are made in such a way that you can relax, spend leisure time, or even sleep comfortably in case you're tired. The chairs are reclining, with comfortable backrests; dry toilets are available in the hides for the tourists and experts. Located amongst a thicket of pine trees, these hides are well hidden or camouflaged. You'll get to see the brown bears from the best viewing range of five meters. The reason why tourists come from far and wide to see Finnish bears here, is that wooden forests are the natural habitat for these bears. It's better than going to grassland or swamp, as bear cubs aren't comfortable without ample hiding spots, like in the woods. All of you will be divided between two large, wooden hides; each hide has large windows, ample spacing, great photography opportunities, and sound amplifying systems so that you can hear every sound of the bears. There'll be a guide with you all the time, so you don't need to worry about anything! Night-time is the best time for observing bears, as they often come out at night. Snacks and drinks will be served regularly so that you're comfortable. |
Days 3 - 5 |
A quest to watch bears The nights will be spent observing the movement of brown bears. If you're lucky, you may also catch sightings of black-kites, white-tailed eagles or the extremely rare Golden Eagle. Apart from the bears, you'll probably spot the Arctic fox, moose, wolverines, etc. It'll be an exciting three days for you, with a guide at your behest, to answer every query that may pop out of your head! After each suspense-filled night, you'll have to evacuate the hide early in the morning and go to your respective lodging for a hearty breakfast. You can laze around or catch your sleep for a few hours after that. Then, back to the hide for another night of exciting bear-watching. |
