Bhubaneswar is one of the most visited cities in India. One of the main reasons for this is the Jagannath Puri temple, which is one of the Char Dhams of Hindu culture. This temple holds a significant place among Hindus. Bhubaneswar also houses many other great tourist destinations such as the World Heritage site, Konark temple, the UdayGiri caves, and the wonderful Chilika Lake. ITINERARY - 6 Days
Day 1

Arrival at Bhubaneswar

On your first day, you'll arrive at Bhubaneswar Airport, Odisha. You'll be picked up by one of our representatives at the airport and transferred back to your hotel. Bhubaneswar is the capital and also the largest city in the state. It is a center of education and culture for the eastern part of India. The city was formerly known as the Temple City. It has a vast heritage of religions such as the Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. The Swarna Tribhuj formed by three temples in the city is one of the most visited tourist destinations of the country. The city is one of the best developing cities in India and is considered a Tier 2 city. It is also becoming an educational and IT hub for Eastern India.

 

On your first day you can take a glance at the city while being transferred to the hotel and then relax and enjoy your hotel perks.

Day 2

Bhubaneswar

On the second day of your tour, you will have your morning breakfast at the hotel. Then you will have a busy day ahead of you. You will visit many famous temples like Lingaraj, Parsurameswar, Mukteswar, and Rajarani temple.

 

Lingaraj Temple: This temple was constructed in the 11th century in Kalinga style. It is the largest temple in the city and is primarily dedicated to Lord Shiva. Several other Hindu deities such as Lord Vishnu are also carved out here.

 

Parsurameswar Temple: Constructed in around the 7th to 8th century, it is one of the oldest temples in India. The temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva while many other Hindu deities have been carved out on the stones as well.

 

Mukteswar Temple: This temple was built around the 10th century and is very famous for its arched gateway. Also known as the Muktesvara Deula, the dome of the temple is at 10.5 m and is decorated with intricate designs on stones.

 

Rajarani: This temple was also built in the 11th century during the Samavasi rule. It is also mainly dedicated to the Hindu deity, Lord Shiva. One of the best carvings found here is that of sage Lakulisa above the entrance.

 

After this, we take a lunch break. Later, we visit the Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves. Built around the first century by the Khedi Dynasty, the Udayagiri caves are an example of the beautiful carvings by the Kalinga artisans.

Day 3

Bhubaneswar - Dhauli - Hirapur - Pipli- Raghurajpur - Puri

On the morning drive to Puri, you will visit the famous villages of Dhauli, Hirapur, Pipli, and Raghurajpur. The most famous attraction of these places is the Patta Chitra, palm leaves engraving, wooden toys, tusser paintings, and others.

 

Dhauli is considered to be the place where the Kalinga war took place. Located along the banks of the Daya river, you will also find a Stupa out here.

 

Odisha's most famous art exports of the world are the Applique work in the Pipli village. You will find many applique works here and may even buy some as souvenirs.

 

Raghurajpur is another village that is very famous for its Patta Chitra. This Pattachitra is mainly used to decorate Lord Jagannath.

 

Then you will proceed to Puri and check-in your hotel.

 

Puri is the largest attraction for the state. It is one of the Char Dhams of India which is very holy to the Hindus. The Char Dhams was established by Adi Shankaracharya, including Jagannath Puri. The city has regular shrines and Math's all over the place which are all connected to Jagannath. One of the major festivals celebrated around here is the Jagannath Yatra. This happens in June/July when the lord comes out on the street and anyone regardless of their caste and creed can seek his blessings.

 

In the evening, you can visit the Lord Jagannath temple ( Only Hindus Allowed), or can relax on the Puri beach.

Day 4

Puri - Konark - Puri

In the morning you will go for a drive towards Konark, to visit the renowned Sun temple which is also a World Heritage site. On the way you will visit the Ramchandi temple and Chandrabhaga Beach.

 

The Konark temple or the Sun temple was built in the 12th century and is dedicated to the Sun. The temple is 227 feet high making it one of the highest temples of the country. The architectural precision of the monuments surprises historians. The wheels constructed for the chariot of Sun God easily depict the time of the day. They also denote the activities that one normally does in a day. Even today, building a marvel such as this may be a hard task for anyone.

 

After this you return to Puri. Then you can visit the beach market and stay overnight at Puri.

Day 5

Puri - Chilika - Puri

Morning drive to the Chilika Lake at Satapada. Then you can take the boat cruise to visit the Irrawaddy dolphins and Rajhans Island.

 

Hundreds of migratory birds can be spotted at the Chilika Lake at the right time of the year. You can enjoy the beautiful sight of dolphins swimming near the Rajhans Camp.

Day 6

Return to Bhubaneswar and Depart

You'll drive back to Bhubaneswar and then will be transferred to the airport for your departure. This will be the end of your Bhubaneswar Puri Konark tour and we will make sure you return satisfied.
