What it is
Klaserie is the wild end of the Greater Kruger — big, raw bush with the cats and the space to find them.
One of the largest private reserves in the Greater Kruger, Klaserie is also one of the wildest and least commercial — a vast stretch of bushveld along the Klaserie River, fences down to Kruger, with the full Big Five ranging across it. With relatively few lodges over a great deal of country, it offers off-road traversing and ranger-and-tracker guiding in a setting that feels genuinely remote, often with excellent walking safaris. It is the private reserve for travellers who prize wilderness and authenticity over polish and big names — raw, spacious and quietly superb.

The reason to come

Wilderness and space

Klaserie's scale and low lodge density give it a rare sense of genuine wilderness — big country, few vehicles, and the freedom to track the cats across it off-road. For travellers who want the private-reserve advantages in a wild, unshowy setting, it is one of the Greater Kruger's best-kept secrets.

One of the largest private reserves, with few lodges over a vast traverse — real space and solitude.

The wild feel

Less commercial and less polished than the famous reserves — wilderness over luxury branding.

Worth knowing

Klaserie is about wilderness and authenticity rather than top-end luxury or guaranteed leopard — the Big Five are all here, but the draw is the raw, spacious, genuine bush experience.

Raw over polished

Why wilderness wins here.

Where the famous reserves trade on luxury and habituated cats, Klaserie trades on space and wildness. It is bigger, emptier and more authentic-feeling than most — the place to come for a private safari that feels like genuine wilderness, walking included, rather than a polished production.

When to come — honestly

Best in the dry winter.

May – September
Best
Dry winter — the prime months, with sparse cover, concentrated game and the best conditions for drives and walks alike.
October – April
Good
Green summer — lush, birdy and dramatic with newborns, under thicker cover and higher heat and malaria risk.
Klaserie follows the Greater-Kruger pattern — dry winter is prime for both game drives and walking, with sparse bush and concentrated game, while green summer brings births, birds and drama under heavier cover.
A landowners' wilderness

Conservation across many hands

Klaserie is a large reserve made up of many private properties under a shared conservation framework, with the fences down to Kruger — so its wildlife roams the greater ecosystem freely. Its size and multi-owner structure give it a wilder, less uniform character than a single-lodge reserve.

As across the Greater Kruger, conservation, tourism and in places hunting coexist among the landowners, and the reserve's relatively low tourism footprint is part of what keeps it feeling wild.

We pick the right lodge within Klaserie for a genuinely wild, walking-friendly safari, and set expectations toward wilderness and authenticity rather than luxury branding.

Why Wild Voyager

We match you to the right South Africa.

South Africa is the most varied safari country there is — private reserves, national parks, desert, coast and city, at wildly different prices. In Klaserie Private Nature Reserve that means picking the lodge for a genuinely wild, walking-friendly safari, and setting expectations toward wilderness rather than luxury branding.

We pick the place, not the cheapest bed

South Africa lives or dies on the choice — which reserve, which lodge, which park. We match you to the right one, with the traversing rights and guiding that matter, not whoever pays to be listed.

We base you in the right place

Klaserie is large and made of many properties, varying in style and remoteness. We match you to a lodge that delivers the wild, spacious, walking-friendly safari the reserve is known for.

We guide for wildlife, not a checklist

Our guides and trackers work the terrain, the tracks and the light for real encounters — they would rather earn you one great sighting than rush a list.
