Moremi is the only officially protected reserve within the Okavango Delta — and its wildlife heart. Covering the Delta's eastern side, it protects a superb mix of permanent water and dry land: lagoons and channels alongside mopane forest, floodplain and savanna, holding the full cast of big game — elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo, wild dog and the Delta's red lechwe. That blend of habitats makes Moremi one of the richest game areas in the whole Delta, accessible both through fly-in camps and, unusually for the Okavango, by self-drive 4x4.
