What it is

Way Kambas is Sumatra's lowland ark — refuge of the Critically Endangered Sumatran rhino and elephant, and a superb birding forest.

A lowland forest and swamp park, Way Kambas shelters Sumatran elephant and is home to the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary, the species' last hope (the wild rhino themselves are not on view). For birders it delivers white-winged duck, Storm's stork, pittas and a long lowland list, by boat on the Way Kanan river and on forest trails.
