What it is
Kumul Lodge is PNG birding made easy — a highland lodge whose feeders draw ribbon-tailed astrapias and sicklebills into the open.
Near Mount Hagen, Kumul is legendary for its garden feeders, where the spectacular ribbon-tailed astrapia, brown sicklebill, Belford's melidectes and others come within metres — the most relaxed birds-of-paradise viewing in New Guinea. The surrounding montane forest adds more highland species on gentle trails.
