What it is
Ambua is the high cloud forest above Tari — mossy montane forest with sicklebills, astrapias and the most atmospheric birding in PNG.
Set on the Tari Gap at high elevation, Ambua's mossy cloud forest adds the upper-montane birds-of-paradise — black and brown sicklebills, Princess Stephanie's and ribbon-tailed astrapias, and the superb bird-of-paradise — to the Tari list. Waterfalls, moss forest and crisp highland air make it one of New Guinea's most beautiful birding bases.
