What it is

Bako is Sarawak's compact wildlife park — proboscis monkeys and bearded pigs in coastal rainforest, reached by a short boat ride.

On a peninsula near Kuching, Bako packs proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, bearded pigs and silvered langurs into accessible coastal forest, with sea-stack cliffs, mangroves and pitcher plants. It is the easy, rewarding introduction to Sarawak's wildlife, and reliable for the big-nosed monkeys.
