What it is
Cuiabá is the gateway to the northern Pantanal — a hot frontier city where the famous Transpantaneira road begins.
On the northern edge of the great wetland, Cuiabá is the air gateway to the Pantanal. It is mainly a transit point: from here the Transpantaneira — a raised dirt road studded with wildlife — runs south toward Porto Jofre and the jaguars.
