What it is

Jukkasjärvi is home to the original ICEHOTEL — a hotel sculpted anew from river ice every winter, where you can sleep inside a work of art.

On the banks of the Torne River, this Sami village gave the world the first ICEHOTEL, rebuilt each winter from harvested river ice with art suites carved by international sculptors, an ice bar and an ice chapel. A permanent ICEHOTEL 365 now runs year-round. Around it lie husky sledding, Sami culture and aurora over the river.
