What it is
Mulu is Borneo's cave kingdom — some of the largest caves on earth, the famous bat exodus, and the razor Pinnacles above.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mulu holds caves of staggering scale — Deer Cave and the Sarawak Chamber among the world's biggest — and each evening up to three million bats spiral out of Deer Cave in ribbons against the sky. Above ground, the sharp limestone Pinnacles and lush rainforest complete one of Borneo's great natural showcases.

When to come — honestly

A year-round cave park.

March – September
Best
Drier months — best for caves, trails and the Pinnacles climb.
Year-round
Good
The caves and bat exodus run all year; heavy rain can affect access.
The bat exodus depends on the weather (rain can cancel it); the Pinnacles climb is strenuous and not for everyone.
