The land
The Zambezi channels, islands and floodplain beneath the escarpment

What it is
The Lower Zambezi is the river safari — canoeing past elephant and hippo, with game drives along the floodplain.
Across the river from Mana Pools, the Lower Zambezi offers the same great river and escarpment backdrop from the Zambian side. Days mix canoeing, boating and driving, with elephant herds crossing the channels and lion on the floodplain — and some of the best tigerfishing in Africa.

Canoeing and game viewing peak in the dry months; many camps close in the green-season rains.
Context

The Zambian Zambezi

The park faces Mana Pools across the river, sharing the same floodplain ecosystem and the same dramatic escarpment light.

It pairs naturally with South Luangwa for a complete Zambian safari — leopard valley, then great river.
