When to come — honestly

When to go

May – September
Best
Dry winter — the prime safari season in the bushveld. Sparse cover, animals concentrated at water, cool days and the lowest malaria risk. The Cape is cooler and wetter now.
November – March
Good
Green summer — lush, hot and dramatic, with newborn animals, migrant birds and afternoon storms. Peak season for Cape Town, the coast and the winelands, which are dry and sunny.
April & October
Good
Shoulder months — a fine balance of thinning bush, mild weather and fewer crowds, good across both the bushveld and the Cape.
